7 Day Devotional Journey

I decided a few weeks ago that I wanted to refresh my devotional life with God, deepen my roots of faith and make my time with Him more of a consistent priority. So I decided to follow the process/steps/method (whatever you would like to call it) set out by Andy Baker from Homegrown Worship. Andy has recorded and released 52 songs in a year and all of them came out of his devotional time with God. Obviously, writing the songs were not the reason for him spending time with God, rather they were the byproduct.

So, I wanted to share that journey with you for 7 days. Here is a video I recorded, which explains it.

Finally, in case you want to include these steps in your own time with God, here they are:

  1. Reflect - think about and journal (if possible) where you are at, what you are going through and how you are feeling.

  2. Thank - take time to offer God thanksgiving for the blessings in your life.

  3. Listen - listen to what God is saying, whether that is through prayer or His word.

  4. Respond - respond to God - whether that’s through prayer, worship, singing a song, writing something down, drawing, doing something creative, however you want to respond to God.

  5. Share - share what God has said to you with others.
